Just finished reading Book 3 of Anna Castle’s Francis Bacon Mystery Series. Who knew I would like “cozy mysteries”? Binge read them all, and I’m not even into binge reading. Would have finished them sooner, but life got in the way. Anyway, if you’re looking for a fun read by an Austin author, check it out.
What these books fun to read?
First, the writing is tight and meaningful, the dialogue natural, and the historical setting accurate.
Second, the characters are likable. They are people we know. Don’t let the time period scare you. Castle keeps everything real for us while paying her dues to the period (Elizabethan London).
Third, they’re just so darn cozy. That’s the best word to describe them. There are no pages full of blood and guts. (Strange for me to like a lack of blood and guts), but it works.
Enjoyed the heck out of them. Here’s a link to them at Amazon if you care to take a look.
