Acrostic Poems

Acrostic poems spell out their subjects for you. Simple Acrostic poems uses the first letter of each line to spell out a word. That word is usually what the poem is about. These poems can be fun, but are more challenging than you think at first glance.

If you want to give yourself more of a challenge in writing Acrostic poems, make the first and last letter of each line spell out a word or words, or create lines where more than two letters from each line create words. The possibilities are endless.

For the sake of example, I’ve tried my hand at a simple Acrostic poem.

Candid with bliss
Honored for faithfulness
Indivisible from faith
Humbled by touch
Unified with heart
Angered with cause
Hungry with affection
Understanding of heart
Astute watchers
