Cinquain

Here’s a simple five line poem form to test out your syllable counting skills, or at least the skills of one of the many online syllable counters. Cinquain poems follow a simple pattern:

Line 1 contains 2 syllables

Line 2 contains 4 syllables

Line 3 contains 6 syllables

Line 4 contains 8 syllables

Line 5 returns to 2 syllables.

No rhyme scheme or beat pattern to follow, but count your syllables carefully.

Chihuahua

Small, fierce

Devoted, honored, challenging

Dashing and leaping into hearts

Lovable
