Ekphrastic Poetry

Art about art. That’s the simple definition of Ekphrastic Poetry. Most often, I find Ecphrastic poems about painting and other poems. There’s no reason you can’t write one about your favorite novel or television show. There are not rules to follow except to follow your heart.

Abra stands intent and stares

Judith draws a breath and severs.

Holfernes would call

But Judith’s quick and stealth does silence all.

A stroke and lust is lost,

Except in Abra’s gaze.

In Judith’s eyes does blood entice

But Abra calms to wipe away the stain.

In the night, as sleep prevailes,

trust and lust betray.
