Let’s start with NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month): I dedicated the month to lyrical poetry. In particular, I’m working on the sonnet. I thought I’d use the daily prompts from the NaPo site, but I haven’t. The more sonnets I work on, the more I’m learning. Lots of fun, but learning that I know nothing about this lyrical form of poetry. If you thought sonnets were only for lovers, think again. That being said, things come up, and I’ve been out of NaPo for a couple of days. No worries: I’ll be back.
As if writing a poem a day wasn’t enough to do, I’m also writing for the Blogging A-Z Challenge. Last year, I began a project. The Tales of Balder the Bartending Bard. The more I write these, the more I’m laughing at myself. Part of this years exercise was to help me with my flash fiction. I’m just too wordy. Should have know, but I’m having fun with the tales. I’ve already met several characters that intrigue me and demand I write more about.
Another challenge for April is Camp NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month). I’m using Balder’s tales for this challenge. At least I didn’t create more work for myself. I’m already up to 8,432 words: Well past my goal. So much for me and flash fiction. I think my shortest piece is 450 words.
That’s where I’m at. I hope you are all safe and well. Cross your fingers we’ll be able to leave our homes sooner rather than later.
